Stand Against Racism

The LWV-Princeton Area is co-sponsoring the Princeton YWCA's Stand Against Racism on Friday, April 25. The program begins at 6:00 PM in Hinds Plaza with music and skits and then moves indoors to the Community Room of the Princeton Public Library, where guest speakers, Patricia Fernandez-Kelly of Princeton University and legal expert, Poonam Bhuchar of Princeton will discuss the theme Is Racism Holding Up/ Delaying Immigration Reform? Members are encouraged to support this event.

Communiversity
communiversityOn Sunday, April 27, the LWV-Princeton Area will have a table at Communiversity in Princeton. In addition to presenting information about the League, we will take photos and conduct voting for young people. Click here for more information.

Voter Service 
debateOn Tuesday, April 29 at 7 PM in Witherspoon Hall, the LWV-Princeton Area will co-sponsor, with Princeton Community TV, a forum for the four Democratic primary candidates for the 12th Congressional seat currently held by Rush Holt.
The candidates are Upendra Chivukula, Linda Greenstein, Bonnie Watson-Coleman, and Andrew Zwicker.

On Wednesday, April 30 at 7 PM in Witherspoon Hall, the three Democratic candidates for Princeton Council will meet in a forum co-sponsored by the LWV-Princeton Area and Princeton Community TV. The candidates are Jo Butler, Bernie Miller, and Sue Nemeth.

Princeton Community Housing
AffordableHousingOn the evening of Monday, May 5, 2014, from 7 - 9 PM at Monument Hall, the LWV-Princeton Area will co-sponsor, with Princeton Community Housing, a forum to give an update on the local affordable housing situation. Click here for more information about the forum.

LWV National Convention 
Lee will represent LWV-Princeton Area at the National Convention in Dallas, June 6-10. More information about the convention may be found on the LWVUS website.

LWVNJ Annual Appeal and Callathon
The LWV-Princeton Area successfully participated in the LWVNJ's annual Callathon. A portion of the donations from members of our League will be credited to the LWV-Princeton Area.

Annual Meeting 
Cornell BrooksThe annual meeting of the LVW-Princeton Area will be held Monday, June 16 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM at the Salt Creek Grill. Cornell Brooks, Esq., President and CEO of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, will speak on: "The Beloved Community Behind Bars: A Dream Deferred." Save the date and watch for future information about this event. 
 
Leadership Committee
At the annual meeting, the membership will vote on a proposal to keep the current Leadership Committee in place for another year (June 2014 - June 2015). Click here for a description and list of the Leadership Committee members.


In Memoriam
Marion Epstein died on March 24, 2014 at the age of 98. She was a devoted member of the League and served as its president for many years. She was very active in other community activities. We will indeed miss her. Click here to read more about Marion.

Business Meetings
During the months of January, February, and March, the monthly meetings will be held at the Princeton Library. Meetings for all other months will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Suzanne Patterson Building at 45 Stockton Street in Princeton. We look forward to seeing you!
