RBG's Legacy Rally

The League of Women Voters of New Jersey (LWVNJ) and local chapters throughout the state hosted an RBG’s Legacy Rally on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at the duCret School in Plainfield, New Jersey, as part of the national Women’s March 2020.

Represented organizations included LWVNJ, NAACP, Planned Parenthood, New Jersey Reentry Corp, New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, Unitarian Universalist FaithAction, Moms Demand Action, Women for Progress, Kean Human Rights Institute, NJ assemblywomen and senators, the founder of NJ Women’s March, and more.

We believe that Women’s Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Women’s Rights. We must create a society in which women - including Black women, Indigenous women, poor women, immigrant women, disabled women, Jewish women, Muslim women, Latinx women, Asian and Pacific Islander women, lesbian, bi, queer, and trans women - are free and able to care for and nurture their families, however they are formed, in safe and healthy environments free from structural impediments.

Nancy Hedinger, President of the League of Women Voters of New Jersey, applauds the rally noting that, “The League of Women Voters is opposed to the rush to replace Justice Ginsburg, a fearless trailblazer and fierce defender of women’s rights and civil rights. We join the march to honor her legacy and draw attention to her commitment to social justice for all.”
