Voter Registration will take place Thursday October 10 at Hinds Plaza. Voters will also be reminded about the special October election. The Princeton League will sponsor a forum at which candidates for the New Jersey State Senate and Assembly from the 16th Legislative district will take questions from the audience. This will take place October 15, at 7PM at Witherspoon Hall.
Membership Update
Leticia Ufford has moved from the area and has sent us the following email:
Dear Chrystal and LWV of the Princeton Area,
I have now moved to a retirement home in Hanover, NH to be nearer our children. I haven’t had time to check out a LWV here but I wonder if it could have such dedicated members as you, and Rita and many more. Good luck with your registration drive and with the projects you undertake in the year ahead and best wishes to all.
Sincerely,
Leticia Ufford
We in the Princeton area League will miss Leticia and wish her well. We would also like to thank her for her years of dedication including being a former president.
Using LWV Gmail
In addition to general emails sent to the membership by Ellen Kemp, members of the Leadership Committee will also send pertinent emails. The membership committee will be responsible for informing the current membership of new members.
Back to League Night
The Back to League Night meeting will be held Tuesday, October 29 7 PM in the Community Room at Witherspoon Hall. The program will begin with a video: Storming for the Vote: Hurricane Sandy and the Election. After the presentation, members will be encouraged to discuss the video. Members will also be encouraged to learn about our present and possible future study groups, which include Observer Corps, Lobby Corps, an Action Committee to restore voting rights to all parolees and probationers who are U.S. Citizens (an LWVNJ position), and Human Trafficking. Representatives will be available to answer questions and sign up volunteers. There will be an opportunity for socializing and light refreshments will be served.
Monthly Meeting November 12
Members are reminded of a change in venue for the November meeting. It will be held Tuesday, November 12 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Princeton Public Library, in the second-floor conference room. Members will consider the League of Women Voters NJ Study about Human Trafficking and vote on consensus.
The December monthly meeting will also be held at the Princeton Library.
