Stand Against Racism 2014

Stand Against Racism

Only Not In Our Town and the League staffed tables at Hinds Plaza on Friday, April 25 for the YWCA's Stand Against Racism. Nancy Hall and Chrystal Schivell handed out publicity about the League's upcoming debates and the panel on Affordable Housing, but they attracted no new members among the approximately 125 attendees.

Sponsors explained how their organizations combat racism; everyone pledged to stand against racism; and Deborah Ford sang powerfully and movingly about unity. The event then moved indoors to the Library's Community Room, where refreshments were served and Patricia Fernandez-Kelly of Princeton University and legal expert Poonam Bhuchar spoke on the theme "Is Racism Holding Up/ Delaying Immigration Reform?"
