12th Congressional District Democratic Candidates Forum
In co-sponsorship with Princeton Community TV, the League held a forum on Tuesday, April 29 at 7PM at Witherspoon Hall in Princeton. For ninety minutes Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula, from the 17th New Jersey legislative district; Senator Linda Greenstein, from the 14th legislative district; Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson-Coleman from the 15th district, and Andrew Zwicker, Head of the Science Education Department at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory answered questions from an SRO audience of 140 people. The forum was videotaped for rebroadcast on Princeton Community TV and was posted on its website www.princetontv.org and on that of the LWV of the Princeton Area.
Anne Zeman, Edith Neimark, and Chrystal Schivell organized the event. Barbara Kutscher of the LWV of Burlington County moderated; Lee Forbes was timekeeper. John Schivell, Melissa Scott, Nancy Hall, Beverly Kestenis, and Linda Mather acted as membership ambassadors and distributed index cards for questions. George McCollough and Anna Savoia videotaped and photographed. The link to the video was given to all candidates and to League presidents in the 12th District. Chrystal notified local media about its availability and asked other Leagues to do the same.
Princeton Council Democratic Candidates Forum
In co-sponsorship with Princeton Community TV, the League held a forum on Wednesday, April 30 at 7PM at Witherspoon Hall in Princeton. Thirty-four people braved a deluge to hear Jo Butler, Bernie Miller, and Sue Nemeth in an hour-long forum that was videotaped for rebroadcast and posting.
The forum was organized by Chrystal Schivell with assistance from Linda Mather and the moderator, Karen Siracusa of the LWV of Lawrence Township. Julia Sass Rubin, one of our new members, was timekeeper. Linda Mather screened, and John Schivell, Melissa Scott, and Shiela Berkelhammer assisted with index cards. During the various events this spring, four voter registration forms and three Vote-by-Mail applications were distributed.
